What are some of the most interesting or best rock cover songs you have heard?

What about the worst covers?

Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” is a good one…

I’m a big fan of the Smash Mouth covers. They put one in every albu and turn it into something that combines the original 60s sound with the 90s… they did “Why Can’t We Be Friends”, “Do It Again”, “Getting Better”, and the most popular one ’I’m A Believer".

I also recently found out a cover band named Northern Kings or something like that, they turn nice classic into a heavy symphonic metal thing that’s actually really good. Their Brothers in Arms and Don’t Stop Believing are great.

My favorite cover is definitley Pearl Jam’s version of the Who’s “Love Reign O’er Me,” but I’m not sure that’s what you mean by “interesting.”

Tori Amos has a really cool acoustic cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Also, any Apocalyptica cover of one of Metallica’s songs is pretty interesting.

How about Weird Al’s “covers”? Those are interesting, in a way. They’re really funny, too. My favourite of his is “Smells like Nirvana”, where he pretty much redid the clip in a super funny way. His version of “Money For Nothing” is also pretty good, and the classic “Beat it” transformed into “Eat it”. Would these even be considered covers? What would you call them?
